LG Aircon Error Codes
LG air conditioners show fault codes on the indoor unit display or on the wired/wireless remote, almost always as “CH” codes (e.g. CH 05) that pinpoint the specific fault. Some older or RAC models show the same code in a short form such as C5 or just the number.
LG error codes explained
What each code means, the likely cause, and what to do — with the fix and typical cost.
CH 01 — Indoor return-air (room) temperature sensor fault — open or short circuit.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty or disconnected indoor room-temperature thermistor, or a damaged sensor wire.
What to do: Check the sensor plug is seated; otherwise a technician should test and replace the sensor.
CH 02 — Indoor pipe (coil) sensor or outdoor sensor fault — open or short circuit.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty or disconnected pipe/outdoor thermistor or its wiring.
What to do: Needs a technician to measure the sensor resistance and replace if out of spec.
CH 03 — Communication error between the wired remote and the indoor unit.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Loose/incorrect remote wiring or a wrong controller (single vs group) setting.
What to do: Power-cycle the unit; if it persists a technician should check the remote wiring and settings.
CH 04 — Drain-pump float switch tripped (commercial) or heat-sink sensor fault (RAC models).
Chemical wash from $110Likely cause: High condensate level from a blocked/dirty drain, or a faulty float switch/heat-sink sensor.
What to do: Check for blocked drainage and standing water in the tray; clearing usually needs a service visit.
CH 05 — Communication error between the indoor and outdoor units.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty interconnecting control wiring, loose terminals, or a control PCB fault.
What to do: Turn power off and on at the isolator; if it returns a technician must check the wiring and boards.
CH 06 — Indoor unit coil (evaporator pipe) sensor fault.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty or disconnected indoor coil thermistor or its wiring.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the coil sensor.
CH 07 — Single split: compressor over-current. Multi-split: an indoor unit set to a different mode from the master.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Compressor overload, or mismatched cooling/heating modes across indoor units on a multi-split.
What to do: On a multi-split, set all indoor units to the same mode; compressor over-current needs a technician.
CH 08 — Indoor BLDC fan motor problem — typically the indoor fan locked or not turning.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Seized or faulty indoor fan motor, an obstruction, or a control PCB fault.
What to do: Check nothing is jamming the fan; a locked or non-running fan motor needs a technician.
CH 09 — Outdoor unit fan problem (or, on Multi V, an indoor PCB failure).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Seized or faulty outdoor fan motor, loose connection, or a faulty PCB.
What to do: Requires a technician to test the outdoor fan motor and PCB.
CH 10 — Compressor discharge temperature sensor fault.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty or disconnected compressor discharge thermistor.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the discharge sensor.
CH 21 — Inverter compressor run current too high (DC peak / over-current).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty compressor windings, an inverter PCB/IPM fault, or abnormal load on the compressor.
What to do: Requires a technician to test the compressor and inverter board.
CH 22 — Inverter compressor over-current (high run current).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Compressor electrical fault, inverter PCB fault, or abnormal operating conditions.
What to do: Requires a technician to test the compressor windings, insulation, and run current.
CH 23 — Inverter DC link voltage too low.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Low/unstable supply voltage, failed capacitors, or an inverter PCB fault.
What to do: Requires a technician to check the supply voltage and inverter board.
CH 24 — High- or low-pressure trip (low around 1 bar, high around 35 bar).
Gas top-up from $80Likely cause: Low/leaking refrigerant, blocked airflow or dirty coils raising pressure, or closed service valves.
What to do: A technician must check system pressures; a low-pressure trip usually means low or leaking refrigerant.
CH 26 — Inverter compressor seized / start failure.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Mechanically seized compressor or a compressor/inverter electrical fault.
What to do: Requires a technician to test the compressor windings, insulation, and inverter outputs.
CH 27 — Inverter current irregularity (PSC/reactor circuit fault).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty inverter PCB or reactor.
What to do: Requires a technician to inspect the inverter PCB and reactor.
CH 28 — Inverter DC link voltage too high.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: High/unstable supply voltage, failed capacitors, or an inverter PCB fault.
What to do: Requires a technician to check the supply voltage and inverter board.
CH 32 — Inverter compressor discharge temperature too high (over ~105°C).
Gas top-up from $80Likely cause: Low refrigerant charge, restricted airflow, or an overworked compressor.
What to do: A technician should check the refrigerant charge and airflow; often indicates low refrigerant.
CH 60 — Outdoor unit PCB EEPROM failure.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Corrupted or faulty EEPROM/main control board.
What to do: Requires a technician to reseat or replace the outdoor PCB.
CH 61 — Condenser coil overheating (outdoor coil over ~65°C).
Chemical wash from $110Likely cause: Dirty/blocked outdoor coil or filters, poor airflow, or non-condensables in the system.
What to do: Check the outdoor coil is clean and unobstructed; a wash and pressure check usually needs a technician.
