Midea Aircon Error Codes
Midea split units flash a fault code on the indoor unit display (or via blinking indicator lights), where E-codes generally point to electrical, communication, or sensor faults, and P-codes indicate a protection trip such as voltage, pressure, or compressor issues. Exact meanings can vary by model and series, so treat these as a guide and confirm against your unit’s manual.
Midea error codes explained
What each code means, the likely cause, and what to do — with the fix and typical cost.
E0 — EEPROM parameter error on the control board.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Corrupted settings or a faulty main PCB/EEPROM chip.
What to do: Try a full power-off reset; if it returns, the board needs a technician.
E1 — Communication error between the indoor and outdoor units.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty interconnecting wiring, loose terminals, or a damaged PCB.
What to do: Power off and check connections are seated, but wiring/board faults need a technician.
E2 — Zero-crossing signal detection error.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Unstable mains supply or a fault in the power-detection circuit on the PCB.
What to do: Needs a technician to check the supply and control board.
E3 — Indoor fan speed is out of the normal range (out of control).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty indoor fan motor, a blocked fan, or a PCB fault.
What to do: Check nothing is jamming the fan; motor/PCB faults need a technician.
E4 — Temperature sensor open or short circuit (often the outdoor/coil sensor).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: A defective temperature sensor or a loose/damaged sensor connector.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the affected sensor.
E5 — Temperature sensor open or short circuit (sensor designation varies by model).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: A defective temperature sensor or its connector.
What to do: Needs a technician to identify and replace the faulty sensor.
E6 — Temperature sensor open or short circuit (room or evaporator coil sensor).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: A defective indoor temperature sensor or a loose connector.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the sensor.
EC — Refrigerant leakage detected.
Gas top-up from $80Likely cause: Low refrigerant charge from a leak in the system.
What to do: Needs a technician to locate the leak and recharge the refrigerant.
Eb — Communication error between the indoor PCB and the display board.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Loose display ribbon/cable or a faulty PCB or display board.
What to do: Needs a technician to check the connection and boards.
F0 — Overload / overcurrent protection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Excessive current draw, often from a compressor, electrical, or load fault.
What to do: Needs a technician to diagnose the overcurrent cause.
P0 — IPM (power module) malfunction / IGBT over-current protection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty inverter power module or compressor drive on the outdoor PCB.
What to do: Needs a technician to test the inverter board and compressor.
P1 — Over-voltage or under-voltage protection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Mains supply voltage outside the safe operating range, or a detection fault.
What to do: Check household supply is stable; persistent faults need a technician.
P2 — High-temperature protection of the IPM power module.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Outdoor PCB overheating, often from poor heat dissipation or a fan/airflow issue.
What to do: Ensure the outdoor unit is well ventilated; needs a technician if it persists.
P4 — Inverter compressor drive error.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty compressor, inverter drive circuit, or wiring to the compressor.
What to do: Needs a technician to test the compressor and inverter board.
Code not listed, or not sure?
Midea error codes can vary slightly by model and series. If your code isn’t here — or you’d rather not guess — send us a photo of the display on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you what it means and what it’ll cost to fix. We diagnose on-site, quote before any work, and can usually fix it the same day. Servicing across Singapore from $45.
