Panasonic Aircon Error Codes
Panasonic split and multi-split units flash a fault on the indoor unit’s timer/power LED, and you can read the exact code by holding the remote’s “Check” button until an H or F code appears. H-codes are generally sensor, communication, or detection faults, while F-codes point to refrigeration-cycle, compressor, or system-protection problems.
Panasonic error codes explained
What each code means, the likely cause, and what to do — with the fix and typical cost.
H11 — Abnormal communication between the indoor and outdoor units.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty inter-unit wiring, loose terminals, or a failed indoor/outdoor PCB.
What to do: Needs a technician to check wiring continuity and the control boards.
H12 — Indoor unit capacity mismatch with the outdoor unit.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Wrong indoor/outdoor model pairing or incorrect PCB after a repair.
What to do: Needs a technician to confirm the units are a matched, compatible set.
H14 — Indoor intake (room) air temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the intake-air thermistor or its connector.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the indoor air sensor.
H15 — Compressor temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the compressor thermistor on the outdoor unit.
What to do: Needs a technician to check and replace the compressor sensor.
H16 — Outdoor current transformer (CT) abnormality / open circuit.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Very low current draw from a weak compressor, low refrigerant, or a CT/PCB fault.
What to do: Needs a technician to test the current sensor and compressor load.
H19 — Indoor fan motor mechanism lock.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Seized or jammed indoor fan motor, blocked blower, or a motor/PCB fault.
What to do: Needs a technician to inspect and replace the indoor fan motor.
H23 — Indoor heat exchanger (evaporator) temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the indoor coil thermistor or connector.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the heat exchanger sensor.
H27 — Outdoor air temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the outdoor ambient thermistor.
What to do: Needs a technician to replace the outdoor air sensor.
H28 — Outdoor heat exchanger (condenser) temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the outdoor coil thermistor.
What to do: Needs a technician to test and replace the outdoor coil sensor.
H30 — Outdoor discharge-pipe temperature sensor abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Open or short circuit in the compressor discharge-pipe thermistor.
What to do: Needs a technician to replace the discharge-pipe sensor.
H33 — Indoor/outdoor wrong connection (voltage or wiring mismatch).
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Mismatched units or incorrect power/signal wiring between indoor and outdoor.
What to do: Needs a technician to verify the units are matched and correctly wired.
H98 — Indoor high-pressure protection (overheating in heat mode).
Chemical wash from $110Likely cause: Restricted airflow over the indoor coil from a dirty filter or blocked coil.
What to do: Clean the filter first; if it persists, the coil needs servicing.
H99 — Indoor heat exchanger anti-freezing (freeze prevention) protection.
Chemical wash from $110Likely cause: Dirty filter/coil restricting airflow, or low refrigerant icing the coil.
What to do: Clean the filter; if icing continues, the coil and gas charge need checking.
F11 — Cooling/heating changeover (4-way valve) abnormality.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Faulty 4-way reversing valve, its coil, or the control circuit.
What to do: Needs a technician to test the reversing valve and PCB.
F90 — Power factor correction (PFC) circuit protection on the inverter board.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Inverter/PFC circuit fault or unstable supply voltage.
What to do: Needs a technician to inspect the outdoor inverter PCB.
F91 — Refrigeration cycle abnormal (low-pressure protection).
Gas top-up from $80Likely cause: Low or leaking refrigerant, or a blockage in the refrigerant circuit.
What to do: Needs a technician to leak-test and recharge the refrigerant.
F93 — Outdoor compressor abnormal revolution.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Compressor not running at commanded speed due to a compressor or inverter fault.
What to do: Needs a technician to diagnose the compressor and inverter drive.
F95 — Cooling high-pressure protection.
Chemical wash from $110Likely cause: Dirty/blocked outdoor condenser coil, overcharge, or poor outdoor airflow.
What to do: Clear airflow and clean the outdoor coil; if it persists, call a technician.
F96 — IPM (power transistor) overheating protection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Overheating inverter power module from poor heat-sink cooling or overload.
What to do: Needs a technician to inspect the inverter module and cooling.
F97 — Outdoor compressor overheating protection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Low refrigerant, restricted airflow, or compressor overload causing high discharge temperature.
What to do: Needs a technician to check refrigerant charge and compressor.
F99 — Outdoor DC peak (overcurrent) detection.
Aircon repair from $50Likely cause: Overcurrent in the inverter from a compressor or power-module fault.
What to do: Needs a technician to test the inverter PCB and compressor.
