Reading the code tells you roughly what’s wrong before a technician arrives. The exact meaning depends on the brand, so check your brand’s list.

How do I read my aircon’s error code?

Most units show the code on the indoor unit display or via a blinking light pattern. On many brands you can also retrieve it from the remote’s check/diagnosis mode (for example, holding the “Cancel” or “Check” button). The code is usually one to four characters, such as U4, P6, H11, CH 05, or E1.

Can I clear an aircon error code myself?
